My smart Son when he was little!

My parents always made a big thing of always knowing how to spell a word. So much so that if hubby doesn't know a word he asks me & I can normally spell it for him.

Once Gareth was staying with my parents, he was about 6. He was upstairs writing & called down to my Mum asking how to spell a word. She called back up & told him to look it up in the dictionary. He was silent for a moment then called back down, if I don't know how to spell it, how will I find it!! Smart kid!!

Wordless Wednesday

Beautiful flower!

When we went to visit our friends in St Augustine a couple of months ago, she had a gorgeous flower growing outside. She said it was a sort of lily. It was growing all across her back fence. Apparently it just reseeds itself. She gave me part of a plant & I put it in the ground. This last week it was flowering, it was beautiful so just wanted to show some pictures of it.

The Bucs game Saturday night!

Gareth picked me up at 5pm Saturday, on the way to the game the heavens opened & it poured!! luckily by the time we parked the car it had stopped. Gareth got a chair out of his trunk for me to sit on & gave me a beer, my first tailgate party!!



After we had our beer, we left to walk to the stadium. It took a while to get to our seats but we had a fantastic view of the pitch. We were in a single row of seats, no one in front of me, it was fantastic!!



Just before the game started Gareth took a picture of us both with his phone, that's where all the other pictures are from as well!!



Unfortunately the Bucs lost 23-17, but I enjoyed every minute of the atmosphere, the game, but most importantly, getting to spend 6 wonderful hours with my Son!!!

Early Birthday Present!

My Son called me last night & said he didn't know what to get me for my birthday. He brought 2 tickets for the NFL game, Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Jacksonville Jaguars being played tonight in Tampa. He is picking me up at 4.30 this afternoon, the kickoff is 7.30 tonight. I get to spend the afternoon & evening with my Son, something we hardly get to do these days!! I am so excited I have never been to a game before, unfortunately it gives rain for tonight, but just to be there & the atmosphere I am so looking forward to it. Gareth brought me a Buccaneer top for Christmas so I get to wear it today!!!

My Blog got a makeover!!

My blog has got a makeover!! Shauna was wonderful to work with, she put up with a very awkward customer in me!! I am so pleased with the new layout. I want to thank Shauna for being very understanding & trying so many different varaiations! Also to Christine, who came up with the new color combintation for me!!

Now I need to get blogging, I have been missing the last few days to recurring migraines! I think my eyes need testing again!

I think we might get complacent!!

We were all geared up yesterday for another storm to come through Tampa. I went out Sunday & got some bottled water, I usually stock up on beer, but thought I would be a good girl this time!!!

We have been here 9 years now & have never seen a hurricane or a bad storm. Tampa residents now get very complacent, I know that one year the BIG one is going to come through & no one will be prepared!!

We might get a little rain this afternoon & we keep getting some wind coming through, but nothing like other parts of Florida are getting. My bottled water will get put away in the cupboard. I knew I should have got the beer instead!!

What a week!!

I am still coming to terms with an internet group I am on closing. I have joined another site, but it is like walking into a huge building & not knowing which way to turn. You get used to something, now I am having to find my way around again. Not sure how or if I will join any groups outside my comfort zone!!

We have been getting some work done here at the house as well. New electrical outlet put outside, so we don't keep overloading the sytem at christmas time with the outdoor lights!! Hopefully also this week, we will get the deck, screen, patio furniture & gutters pressure washed. Also having under cupboard lighting put in the kitchen! Sounds like we won the lottery, I wish!!!

I hope to relax a little this weekend, maybe a nice hot bath will help!

New skirt from my Grocery Store!!

I went shopping yesterday to Publix. Had my list of groceries to get, but just as I got in the store, they had a display stand with dresses & skirts on it!!

I start to go through the skirts & saw one I thought would be nice for our vacation next month. I put it in my cart & carried on with my shopping!! It was a nice surprise & I now have a new skirt, the picture isn't that good, but the color is a dusky pink that gets darker to a brown towards the bottom & has silver thread through it!!

It's official, he's a heavyweight!!

So I took Tiger & Garfield to the vet today to get their yearly vaccinations, I can't take all four at once, hubby had to carry Tiger in, just him in his carrier was too much for me!! As he was getting it out of the car, I could see the top bulging away from the bottom, I thought the bottom was going to fall off the carrier!!

They weigh the carrier with cat in, then with it empty. I didn't dare look at the scales. We go into the room, then we get Tiger out of the carrier, she takes the carrier out & weighs it. The vet comes in & tells me, that in his 20 years of working in his practice, Tiger is the biggest cat he has ever seen!!!

Maybe if I say it fast, it won't seem to bad, 25.6lbs!!! He is going on such a strict diet, he is on diet food already though!! I dread next year, just hope he has lost some weight by then. Garfield was positively skinny at 15lbs!!

She weigh's how much!!!

I had to take 2 of our cats for there yearly vaccinations today. One I knew was overweight, tomorrow I take her brother, who I know weighs a lot more. Anyway Little Tab (that's the wrong name for her now!!!) does play during the day. She doesn't eat that much as I have them on diet food. They get fed small amounts 3 times a day.

The vet says to me, what do you feed her.
Diet food is my reply.

He checks her all over & said she has a slight breathing problem, I do hear her snoring when she sleeps!! Then he weighs her, oh my goodness, 22lbs!!! Yep that's right my cat weighs 22lbs. I dread to think what Tiger will weigh tomorrow. Then the vet said did I hear about the cat that was found the other day, that weighed 40lbs. Well my cat is positively skinny then!!!

Wonderful Weekend!

We just spent a wonderful weekend in St Augustine. We went there for our friend's
50th birthday party!!

We drove up friday afternoon, had a lovely drive through the Ocala National Forest & arrived in St Augustine at 4pm to torrential rain!! We went straight to the hotel & put our things in the room. In the evening we went into St Augustine & ate at the Prince of Wales it was a quaint liitle place & the food was fabulous. This is a link to their website: www.theprinceofwalesstaugustine.com


Saturday was a beautiful day, we went for a walk down George Street, which is a very historical part of St Augustine & has some great little shops as well.

Late afternoon we got ready to go the party, it was a fantastic time, at midnight there were about 15 of us on the beach, with glasses & two bottles of champange!! Sunday morning after breakfast, we headed back to Tampa. It really was a wonderful weekend!!!

I'm so strong!!

Our Lawn guy brought 23 bags of mulch over for us today. It was beginning to storm when he arrived, so while he did our yard & 2 of our neighbors, I carried each & every bag & stacked them up on our front porch!! I'd better be showing muscles after this!!

Quirky Meme

2) I wear a mask to peel potatoes, as I am allergic to the spray that comes of the peel!

3) I clean our pool, I've got very good at it & it's cheaper!

Ooops!!!

Yesterday we were trying to put the tv & speakers back in place. Hubby had got the tape measure out & had been working out where to center it under the speaker shelf. Once we had finished he put the measure on the coffee table. This is one of those meatal tape measures which retracts into a metal case.

I picked it up of the table, it slipped out of my hand & hit the new wood floor, & dinged it!!!! I felt absolutley dreadful, I was ready to be really told off, but he was so good about it. We know things will get dropped or knocked over, just didn't expect it to happen that soon!!
