In British Folklore it is customary to shout White Rabbits when you wake up on the first morning of the month, it is supposed to bring you good luck.
There is also one where you say a Pinch & a Punch for the first of the month, pinching & punching, gently the first person you see! This is where the origin for this came from. Originating from old England times when people thought that witches existed. People thought that salt would make a witch weak, so the pinch part is pinching of the salt, and the punch part was to banish the witch. The witch would be weak from the salt so the punch was to banish her.

Until I met my husband Travis I had never heard of the whole white rabbit thing, his family does it all the time and I still forget.
It's strange how these origins start, I don't always remember to say it!
