White Rabbits!!

In British Folklore it is customary to shout White Rabbits when you wake up on the first morning of the month, it is supposed to bring you good luck.

There is also one where you say a Pinch & a Punch for the first of the month, pinching & punching, gently the first person you see! This is where the origin for this came from. Originating from old England times when people thought that witches existed. People thought that salt would make a witch weak, so the pinch part is pinching of the salt, and the punch part was to banish the witch. The witch would be weak from the salt so the punch was to banish her.

Here are some more British Superstitions!

Good Luck
It's meant to be lucky to meet a black cat. Black Cats are featured on many good luck greetings cards and birthday cards in England.

Lucky to touch wood. We touch; knock on wood, to make something come true.

Lucky to find a clover plant with four leaves.

White heather is lucky.

Horseshoe

A horseshoe over the door brings good luck. But the horseshoe needs to be the right way up. The luck runs out of the horseshoe if it is upside down.

Horseshoes are generally a sign of good luck and feature on many good luck cards.

On the first day of the month it is lucky to say "white rabbits, white rabbits white rabbits," before uttering your first word of the day.

Catch falling leaves in Autumn and you will have good luck. Every leaf means a lucky month next year.

Cut your hair when the moon is waxing and you will have good luck.

Putting money in the pocket of new clothes brings good luck.

These are supposed to bring bad luck, so avoid them at all cost!

Bad Luck

Unlucky to walk underneath a ladder.

Seven years bad luck to break a mirror. The superstition is supposed to have originated in ancient times, when mirrors were considered to be tools of the gods.

Unlucky to see one magpie, lucky to see two, etc..

Unlucky to spill salt. If you do, you must throw it over your shoulder to counteract the bad luck.

Unlucky to open an umbrella in doors.

The number thirteen is unlucky. Friday the thirteenth is a very unlucky day. Friday is considered to be an unlucky day because Jesus was crucified on a Friday.

Unlucky to put new shoes on the table.

Unlucky to pass someone on the stairs.

Now go enjoy your April Fools Day!!

New name!

Having been re-inspired by Kimeri's updated blog & her new layout, it made me want to get back into blogging again too!

Unfortunately I am going to be very busy over the next month, which means my re-invented blog will have to sit on the back burner for a couple of months. I think my blog needs a new name though. As I am going to become a Nanny to my first grandchild in June, I was toying with the idea of Nanny Natters. I am open to any suggestions though, so please feel free to leave me some idea's for a new blogging name:)

Time for a change!

Keith has never know what he is going to come home to when I change my hairstyle!!! He is always very good about it & has liked everything I have ever done. My hairdresser who I have been going to now for 12 years loves to "play" with my hair! We even talked Keith into having his hair highlighted 8 years ago & he still has it done even now!

I always give her a free rein wether it be color or cut. That's why she likes to do my hair, I have always been up for anything!!! I have had it permed, long, short, layered, you name it I have probably done it!! It has been the style it is now for a few years & the other day I thought I am ready to take the plunge & change it again!!! I got looking on the internet at styles & found one I like, but before I show you that I want to take you on a trip to show just a couple of my styles!!!!

This picture is from 1980 not only was my hair permed, but at that time men had their hair permed too & Keith's was just growing out.

This next picture is from 2001, it was very short then & had been fo quite a while, Keith had his highlights in this one too!!

This last picture is from 2005 & this was before I had it cut to the style it has been in up to now. I must admit I did like it long, my hair is very thick, if I had to blow dry it, it would take me ages!!

Now to the picture I am going to take with me Thursday, this is the style I am going for this time.

Will have to see how it turns out, I am definately ready for the change!

Before & After

Over the last few weeks I have been decorating the two guest bedrooms. I brought too much paint & decided to do them both the same color. It's called Hazel & it's a lovely green color.

The first room I forgot to take before pictures, these are just the after pictures.

This is the other room with before pictures.

In the after pictures I saw the bedding on an advert for Walmart. It is from Better Homes & Gardens & thought it would look so nice in the room.
